I could never get into it, the plot didn't make sense. There was none.
You just start outside some castle and you're expected to win the game.
I even bought Super Mario 64 DS to try to get into it.
I've had it for at least six months.
I have 2 stars.

There only difference in the DS version is that you start out as Yoshi.

Uhm.
Why?

Explanation, please?

But, no. Game say. Ok, be a dinosaur. Get stars and win.

Blech.

Lol, I can't remember the exact plot, but...

It went somewhere along the line of Bowser stealing power from the stars of the castle or something, I wouldn't completely know though, I never liked or finished the game myself; It just over-complicated itself after and just wasn't fun for me so I quit near the end. I watched the video though, it was a pretty stupid ending... :\ So you didn't miss anything at all... :\

The only thing the DS got going is the multi-character use, slight plot change, and some mini-games to play.
Oh and I can't possibly forget it's godawful multiplayer mode. e.e (catch the star or whatever)

Good. I'm sick of people raving about how great it was. v-v
At least Sunshine had an understandable plot.

The plot was basically that Bowser kidnapped Peach, and you had to use the poewr of the Castle's Stars to defeat bowser and rescue her. However, the stars had been scattered by Bowser into "Painting Worlds" that I think he also had created.
I got pretty into the game; the story wasn't so great, but the levels were interesting and I liked how it was 3-D as opossed to the 2-D gameboy games. I actually only got the game (and the N64) around September last year, I believe. I like how the levels have different challenges and puzzles to get to the stars. I got to one of the last levels; I kinda stopped playing after that, though. They were hard! <___<'

Yeah. That's the plot.

Now as for the DS version,
You start out as Yoshi because Bowser also kidnapped Lugi,Mario and Wario. I don't care for the DS one. I can't beat it.

But I love the N64 version. It rox my sox. =)

The DS one wasn't any good. I prefer the N64 one for many reasons. Glitch-city and the Water Beast in Hazy Maze Cave are the main reasons. Hard to perform the Infinite Stairs Glitch on the DS version and they totally messed up the Water Beast's look also in the DS version.
When I was little I thought the Water Beast looked like Lapras without the shell. That's why I'm upset over its new look.
Mario has been going down the drain recently, along with some of our favorite characters. (Sonic and Spyro are good examples)

I have problems with both of my gamesharks. =/
My N64 one deletes my data and corrupted one of my games.
My Game Boy gameshark just screws the game up and occasionally deletes the data.

I'm looking up glitches for Super Mario 64. Didn't find much that I deem interesting. -_-

I'm an AR user ATW.
Gamesharks are too risky to play with.

Its older than Pokemon it was what 96? It was a leap from 2d to 3d, of course there would be problems, but the game was fantastic, hands down.

I was gonna say something, but then I'd be insulting a gamer's history. D:

Mario 64 showed just how powerful the nintendo 64 was, and lead the way for how platformers could be shapped in that era.

The game's plot??? It super mario, not Final Fantasy? It's major fan base comes from 10 yr olds, its not really story based... I mean name a platformer that is generally its all about something rather simple, rescue a princess, save your sister or collect a so that b is human again...

I don't get your logic in worry about plot in a platformer, your not playing an RPG.

The mario games IMO are just getting better and better, Galaxy was Ace and a real feet for nintendo!

However i've never been a fan of there party game like Karts and party and other crapped out titles like those.

That's probably why too. I admit I play little outside of RPGs. I must
be getting too immersed in them, expecting other games to be similar.
... On an unrelated note, I think I may need to find myself this aformentioned
Final Fantasy. I haven't played one of those in a while.

^ I must admit myself that i generally play RPG's in the time that i play games.

Whilst being offtopic and apologize for this, if you are into RPG's at the moment, Final Fantasy is certainly the cream of the crop, especially titles like FF7,8 and 10 the others are okay but not the quallity.

Again offtopic.

Someone was saying that there GS was formatting there saved data? This can happen, quite easily when hacking but it shouldn't be when you are using codes allready made by a hacker, if it is then unfortunatly that code has caused a rather large exception in the game, that has really damaged you save info, this can happen when an inexperienced code is used or published on the net, but most likely happens when you use a code for Pal and you are using NTSC, memory address change in versions like that and what may be the mem address that is livies in one game could be something much different in another.

Inexperienced code explaination:
Lets say 80 000001 memory address is what a "hacker" has thought contains live data, but actaully does more than just that and this can be the case in some codes, lets say you use this code and set a value of 0063, while this may seem like its only effecting livies it might be doing more, it might be an ASM routine that after you do die in the game does a whole heap of things like set your collection of apples to 0 or something and when you set this up to a perminate value of 63 the game may crap it's self and freeze up.

The above example is a super dumbed down version and i dought that it would course an exception, however something like making a certain enemy appear in the game could, as you may be dealling with much more than that and the hacker hasn't actually got the right code instead maybe mixed up somehow with the asm routine when releasing the code, or never got the pointer, and just thought it was a standard code and that it wouldn't change location. Many things like that, can happen it's not likely though.

But it could kill your game.
