Night 1
Mario lay asleep in his bed. Actually, half-asleep, for he shifted in and out of a strange nightmare. He would awaken suddenly, covered in sweat, before falling back asleep. He couldn’t quite recall what would keep awakening him, but it was surely quite frightening. All he could remember about the figure in his dream were brief glimpses and shadows. Mario was about to fall asleep again when he heard a thud in the room next door. He lay awake, straining his ears to hear what it could be. An animal? A thief? It couldn’t be his brother, for Luigi was across the sea, saving princess Daisy….
THUD. The sound was closer now, perhaps right outside his door…
“Ow! Stupid book! This place is a mess!”
“Shh, calm down! We don’t want to wake him!”
The Thud was coming from a person attempting to navigate through Mario’s house. It was a new moon, so it was especially dark and hard to see. It sounded as though there was more than one person, as well…
“Forget about that! He’s probably already awake… here.”
BANG!
“Oh! Mama mia!” called Mario, as he stood up in his bed. The door had been slammed in, right off its hinges!
Mario was terrified. He couldn’t make out the looming figures near the door, and the light switch was across the room… The window was far away, too, so he couldn’t escape out that way.
“Oh-a, why-a did I-a put my-a bed in-a such-a bad-a position!” Mario whined.
“Mwahahaha. Mario, you’re mine!” one of the figures bellowed.
“Oh-a no-a!”
The figures ran up to him, and a giant sack was thrown over Mario, as he was hit on the head with something and blacked out.
-
Bow was strolling merrily around Mario’s neighborhood when she heard the commotion.
“Oh, something’s amiss! I better go help!”
Bow quickly floated toward Mario’s house, just in time to see the dark figures dash out of Mario’s house carrying an ominous Mario-sized sack.
Bow cursed under her breath. “What have you done to Mario?” she called out.
“Oh, nothing. We’re just kidnapping Mario.”
“Your evilness, I’m not sure it was wise to tell her that…”
“What?! Mario’s in that sack?! You fiend!”
“Perhaps. But what are you gonna do about it, huh?”
“I- I’m gonna defeat you, that’s what! Defeat you and save Mario!” As he said this, she whipped out her signature weapon: the fan, and attacked at the enemy with Fan Smack, but it was no use- the attack simply bounced off the villain.
“Hahahahaha! You, defeat us? I’d die of laughter before your hand!”
Bow braced herself as the figures circled around her. As the figures attacked, she attempted to unleash more strikes at the enemy, but found the attacks all bouncing off, just as before! What was this force causing the attacks to be so ineffective? This never had happened before…It also was very difficult to see who, let alone where, she was attacking.
“Hahaha! Weakling!” a blast of light hit Bow, tossing her back quite a few meters.
“Ugh, that hurt!” Bow moaned. Bow fell to the ground, clutching her stomach.
'I need to… hide.' Bow thought. She placed her arm over her head, ready to initiate her Outta Sight ability.
But it was too late. Before she’d become completely invisible, she was struck once again; the pain following was unbearable.
Bow moaned again. “I… I can’t die here…. No… I thought… it was impossible…” But it was already too late: Bow’s voice was fading, and she began to see black spots, blue spots, red spots, and other colored spots, in her eyes. Her ears felt like they were about to burst, tiny explosions exploding in them. The pain was unbearable, and before her vision faded completely, Bow looked down too see a pool of silver blood forming around her.
Lady Bow’s time had come, much sooner than expected, but that happens sometimes, does it not?
The dark figures trotted staggeringly across the dark field unto the horizon, silhouetted not by the invisible moon, but by an especially bright light coming from a small house they passed by.
A little critter was also nosing around, but unfortunately it had just missed the battle that had occurred just moments before. It, however, and a few other creatures, for some unexplainable reason, each felt a jolt of strange, violent pain, as if a needle had been thrust thought them briefly…
